Access Statement
We at Beaufort House strive to make the stay of all our guests as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Beaufort House is a late Victorian house situated in the Cathedral Road conservation area. Being a Victorian house there are several steps both up and down to access guest areas.
Guest accommodation is arranged over the First (USA Second) and Second (USA Third) floors.
We have no guest accommodation on the ground floor. (USA First).
There are no lift facilities available.
The Dining Room for breakfast is on the ground floor. There is a step down from the Hall of 5 inches and then a sharp left and right turn through a fire lobby.
From the pavement there is a step of 3 inches onto the path and a step of 6 inches from the path into the porch. There is a further step of 5 inches onto a marble threshold 12 inches across and then a step down into the Hall of 3 inches.
From the Hall there are 16 stairs to a Double Room and a Family Room.
Up 5 stairs to another Double Room and a Family Room.
Up 11 stairs to two Double rooms and 1 Single Room.
Up 8 stairs to two Family rooms and 1 Single Room.
The dimensions of the stairs are Riser 7 inches x Tread 11 inches.
Width of staircase is 38 inches.
There is a 10 inch step into each shower cubicle in the en-suite areas.
The car park is accessed via a path at the side of the house. There are no steps from the porch to the car park. The narrowest point is 32 inches.
